DVD error correction system is much better than CD so if the DVD-scratch wounded, the data on the DVD are not necessarily broken. Although when compared to CD, data that are threatened in a DVD would be a lot of the same for any scratches.
But the corrections system are owned by the DVD will make it less vulnerable to disruption than the CD scratches. But if scratches or cuts on the DVD is already very severe, then what happens is when the movie is playing, you'll get some parts that are stalled. Just skip the section or scene.
Then there is most likely the film will go well again. But in the future DVD Player will be able to cover the damage this disturbing video.
